On Board Experience

The entire Avalon fleet features a minimum room size of 172-square feet and 25 percent of Avalon’s staterooms are suites. There are floor-to-ceiling windows on two decks of every Avalon vessel. Some enhancements, including deluxe woven carpeting, flowers, premium L’Occitane products and scented sticks in our staterooms are subtle. Other offerings, such as Avalon-branded premium bedding (Comfort Collection by AvalonSM) and marble bathrooms.

Avalon Luminary

Avalon Panorama (2011) - features a club, main lounge and dining room with sweeping views, hair salon, Sky Deck whirlpool and Open-Air Bistro. In addition, our Panorama-style ship fitness rooms are more expansive, featuring additional equipment.  The Avalon Vista and Avalon Visionary will join the fleet in 2012.

The Avalon Luminary and Avalon Felicity hold 138 passengers with four suites and 65 spacious staterooms. The Avalon Creativity, Avalon Affinity and the Avalon Scenery are all members of the same design family of ships. The staterooms, with a minimum area of 172 square feet, are decked out with 83% floor-to-ceiling windows on two decks. In addition, there is an elevator, and the whirlpool on the Sky Deck allows for a refreshing dip after a day of sightseeing. The rear lounge is perfect for small groups. These ships are winning fans around the world. The Avalon Scenery was designated “Best New Ship” by Travel Age West the year it was launched and the Avalon Luminary was announced the "Best New Ship" in 2010.

Avalon Luminary Deluxe Stateroom, Category E, 172 sq ft

Avalon Tapestry (2006), Avalon Tranquility (2007), and Avalon Imagery (2007) 

All three of these ships have navigational bridges located in the stern, allowing more spacious and gracious interior designs. The lounge and restaurant on each offer unimpeded views on three sides of the ever-changing European landscape. The vast, open Sky Deck is perfect for sunning, taking pictures, and relaxing. The passenger and propulsion sections of each vessel are separated, thus reducing noise and vibrations and allowing for a smoother cruise experience. This groundbreaking design is known as the Silent Drive System (SDS). The SDS on each vessel is located at the stern, separating it from the passenger compartments and allowing for a quieter cruise experience than traditional small ships.

Meal Schedule

Early Riser Coffee, 6 a.m.
Start your day right with self-service coffee, hot water, croissants, cookies, and assorted finger foods.

Breakfast Buffet, 7 a.m.–8:30 a.m.
Enjoy a tempting selection of breads, cereals, fruits, cold cuts and cheeses, smoked salmon, pastries, yogurts, and juices. Hot items such as eggs, sausage, and bacon vary daily.  Buffet breakfast items are conveniently color coded on all Avalon Waterways river cruise ships to indicate foods that are low calorie, low fat/low calorie, high fiber, low cholesterol, and high energy

Late Riser Breakfast, 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m.
Self-service coffee, hot water, croissants, cookies and assorted finger foods.

Lunch Buffet, 12:30 p.m.
Select from intriguing appetizers, hearty soups, hot dishes, homemade breads, cold cuts and cheeses, salads, and delectable desserts.

Afternoon Tea, 4 p.m.
Take a mid-day break with coffee or tea and cake or cookies served in the lounge or on the top deck.

Dinner, 7:30 p.m.
Dine elegantly with a sit-down meal served in a single sitting. The chef will delight you with gourmet selections and the perfect, complimentary wines (complimentary beer or soft drinks also available). Menus typically feature an appetizer, soup, entrée, dessert, and coffee or tea.

Night Fare, 10:30 p.m

Shore Excursions - Avalon offers over 120 all-inclusive shore experiences.  There isguided sightseeing in every port (complete with headsets), daily port lectures, VIP access into key destinations, no waiting in lines and great cultural immersion thanks to highly skilled Cruise and Tour Directors.  Avalon has partnered with bicycle tour specialists in Amsterdam, Maastricht, Lyon, Durnstein and Breisach for optional, guided excursions.
